About Osteopathy

Osteopathy is an approach to healthcare that emphasises the role of the musculoskeletal system and the interrelation of the muscles, joints, connective tissues and their nerve and blood supply. Therefore, an osteopath treats the whole person not just the condition. A common misconception is that osteopaths only treat back pain however osteopathy is the treatment of the whole body.

As osteopaths, Emma and Izzy are trained to recognise and treat many causes of pain. They use a wide range of treatment approaches including:

  • Structural techniques

  • Soft tissue stretching and release techniques (to warm and stretch the muscles)

  • Joint mobilisation and gentle manipulations (to increase range of movement in joints)

  • Cranial techniques

At our practice we treat a broad spectrum of conditions including:

  • Neck and Shoulder Pain

  • Back and Hip Pain

  • Elbow and Wrist Pain

  • Knee and Ankle Pain

  • Occupational and Repetitive Strain Injuries

  • Headaches and Migraines

  • Sciatica and Nerve Pain

  • Sports Injuries

  • Sinusitis and Jaw Pain

  • Symptoms of Arthritis

  • The bodies adaptions to both pregnancy and post pregnancy strains and tensions

  • Restless/unsettled babies due to: traumatic birth, colic, reflux, feeding and sucking problems
